Q1. Location information cannot be obtained indoors or underground
A:
Correct. Since GPS requires communication with satellites, it may not provide accurate location data inside buildings, underground, or in tunnels.
We recommend using the app in open outdoor areas.


Q2. Location services might be turned off
A:
To enable location services on your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Tap Privacy & Security
  3. Open Location Services
  4. Ensure that this app (ExpoWatch) is set to While Using the App

If using Apple Watch independently, make sure that location access is also allowed in the Watch app settings on your iPhone.


Q3. The compass (direction sensor) may not work in some situations
A:
The compass on Apple Watch or iPhone is sensitive to magnetic fields and surrounding metal. It may not show accurate directions in the following environments:

  • Indoors, underground, tunnels, or other enclosed structures
  • Near buildings, inside trains or elevators, or places with a lot of metal or electric equipment
  • Near magnetic items such as phone case magnets, magnetic necklaces, or metal bag clasps
  • Near speakers, batteries, or motors

To use the compass accurately, operate it in an open outdoor space free from magnetic interference.


Q4. What should I do if the compass behaves strangely?
A:
Compass issues are usually caused by sensor disturbances on the iPhone or Apple Watch. Try the following:

  • Move your iPhone or Apple Watch slowly in a figure-eight motion
  • Stay away from strong magnetic fields or metal (e.g., near buildings, trains, or magnetic accessories)
  • On Apple Watch, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and make sure Compass Calibration is enabled
  • If the problem persists, try restarting your device (turning the power off and on).
    (Note: Restarting the app alone may not be sufficient.)

*This is not a bug in the app — it is a limitation of the device’s built-in compass.


Q5. Can I use the app without an iPhone?
A:
Yes. The app works on Apple Watch independently.
However, having an iPhone during initial setup may be helpful (e.g., for confirming installation and reviewing settings).
The iPhone also provides a simple map view of your location and destination, so using both together offers a better experience.


Q6. Can I use the app without an Apple Watch?
A:
Yes. You can use the app on iPhone alone.
You’ll be able to view the map, direction, and walking time directly on the iPhone.
Using an Apple Watch offers a more convenient hands-free experience, but it is not required.

  • People who want to reduce iPhone battery usage

Q8. Are there any concerns about communication or personal data?
A:
No. This app does not connect to the internet and does not collect any personal information.
